First Nations Voices

Tjanima is a boy growing up in a community where his family, overwhelmed by their own problems, are looking for escape. Everywhere they look they see families are stressed out. Everyone has the same problems.Soon they start drinking and smoking ganja again. Soon they go back to gambling. But what about Tjanima? Who will look after him? From the beginning, his grandfather can see that Tjanima is heading for trouble, but Tjanima's parents will not listen. As he grows older, the boy's hurt grows. He feels betrayed by his parents, unwanted by them. Until one day his anger erupts. Told through the eyes of his grandfather, Tjanimaku Tjukurpa (Tjanima's Story) is a story of neglect and a story of love, a story of second chances, and ultimately, a story of healing.
